भावार्थ—कवि झूठे बहादुरों को पुनः शेखी बघारते चित्रित करता है। ऐसे साथी काम के नहीं होते हैं।

कवि के विषय में

ऑगर्डन नैश ने हास्य छंद की 400 से भी अधिक रचनाएँ लिखीं। उसकी सर्वोत्तम रचना को 1931 से 1972 के बीच 14 खण्डों में प्रकाशित किया गया था। उसकी रचना एंथनि बर्जेस की काव्यात्मक श्रद्धांजलि में सर्वोत्तम रूप से वर्णित की गई है :

Third, the Dragon has a fearsome body even then he keeps crying for a nice safe cage. Fourth, the coward dragon emerges the bravest. Belinda still lives with false friends.

Ans. The poem focuses on the theme of real versus false bravery. Though Belinda and her pets act brave in ordinary times, they run away in actual danger. Custard, mocked for being timid, proves that true courage is shown through actions, not words. The poem also highlights the idea that appearances can be misleading, as Custard, the so-called coward, is the only one who bravely fights the pirate.
