III. Answer the following questions.
Question 1.
What prompted Anand to create the burglar alarm?
Answer:
There was a rush of thefts in the colony, so Anand got the idea that a burglar alarm was needed to catch thieves.
Question 2.
How did Anand’s father become the target of the burglar alarm?
Answer:
Anand had set the alarm to work when the door was opened gently. His father always opened the door softly, so when he came home, the alarm got triggered and a water bag fell on him, making him completely wet.
Question 3.
How did Anand’s parents and sister react to his ideas?
Answer:
Anand’s father was strict and firmly said “NO” to his experiments, especially after the burglar alarm incident. His mother was more sympathetic and felt sorry for him. His sister Anita was skeptical and doubtful about his inventions, always warning him about possible problems.
Question 4.
How did Anand behave when he was on his ‘inventing binges’?
Answer:
When Anand was in his inventing mood, he would take apart all the gadgets in the house to collect parts. There was constant noise of hammering, sawing, and clattering. His room became full of wires, springs, levers, and bulbs. He even stopped combing his hair and looked like a savage because he was so focused on his invention.
Question 5.
Why did Mr. Sharma not believe Anand when he spoke about his time machine?
Answer:
Mr. Sharma probably did not believe Anand because Anand’s previous inventions, like the burglar alarm, had failed badly. Also, a time machine sounds impossible and like something from science fiction, so it was hard for an adult to believe that a young boy could actually build one.
Question 6.
Give an ending to this story, explaining what might have happened to Boppa.
Answer:
When Boppa entered Anand’s room, he touched the strange machine out of curiosity. Suddenly, there was a bright flash and a loud noise. In the next moment, Boppa vanished. The time machine had worked, and Boppa was sent into the past. That is why he was never seen again.

“It’s quite simple. The moment …………………….. comb his hair. (Pages 93-94)

“Let’s shout anyway,” Anand rather puzzled. (Pages 96-97)
