7 Grammar Clauses

1. अर्थ – Clause (उपवाक्य) एक बड़े वाक्य का एक भाग होता है जिसका अपना subject व predicate होता

2. Kinds of Clauses (उपवाक्यों के प्रकार)

2.1. Main Clause (मुख्य उपवाक्य) या Principal Clause (प्रधान उपवाक्य या Independent Clause (स्वतन्त्र उपवाक्य)-Main Clause एक बड़े वाक्य का एक complete sense देने वाला एक भाग होता है जिसका अपना एक Subject व एक Predicate होता

2.2. Subordinate Clause (आश्रित उपवाक्य) या Dependent Clause (निर्भर उपवाक्य)Sub. Clause एक बड़े वाक्य का एक incomplete sense देने वाला एक भाग होता है जिसका अपना एक Subject व एक Predicate होता है। यह अपनी sense को complete करने के लिए Main Clause पर निर्भर/आश्रित रहता है। 

Ex. Tell me the story (Main Clause) that you read yesterday (Subordinate Clause )

3. Kinds of Subordinate Clauses (आश्रित उपवाक्यों के प्रकार)

3.1. Noun Clauses (संज्ञा उपवाक्य) –
एक बड़े वाक्य में जब Subordinate Clause एक संज्ञा (noun) के रूप में कार्य (function) करे तो वह Noun Clause कहलाता है। यह अक्सर ‘that’ या ‘Wh’ word या Whether आदि से आरम्भ होता है।
I know (Main Clause) that you are intelligent. (Subordinate Noun Clause)

3.2. Adverb Clauses (क्रिया विशेषण उपवाक्य)
एक बड़े वाक्य में जब Subordinate Clause एक क्रिया विशेषण (adverb) के रूप में कार्य (function) करे तो वह Adverb Clause कहलाता है। यह Adverb of Time, Place, Manner, Reason, Result, Purpose, Comparison, Condition, Concession आदि से आरम्भ होता है। इसके लिए आप पहले Adverb वाला Topic अच्छे से पढ़ें व समझें।
I reached (Main Clause) when she had gone.(Subordinate Adverb Clause)


3.3. Adjective Clauses  –
Subordinate Clause a faget (adjective) का कार्य (function) करे तो वह Adjective Clause कहलाता है। यह अक्सर एक Relative Pronoun 2 5. Relative Adverb 
The student who is careless (Sub. Adj. Clause) will get failed
