Context– The poetess is describing the tigers made by Aunt Jennifer in her panel. Also, the artistic taste of Aunt is clearly brought out in the creation of life-like tigers through embroidery.
Explanation—The poetess describes the tigers embroidered on a piece of cloth or a curtain. The tigers can be seen moving across the curtain in an arrogant and jumping way. Their movement shows the freedom and the power enjoyed by them. They are bright yellow like topaz in complexion and live in their natural home, a green forest. They are fearless. They are not afraid of the men sitting or standing under a tree. They move about in an elegant, brave and self-confident manner.

Explanation—Aunt Jennifer appears to be quite old and weak. Her fingers are busy in doing embroidery with an ivory needle. However, they are trembling through the woollen yarn. Just as her age has made her weak physically, the fear of her husband has made her nervous and unstable mentally. It is quite an effort for her to pull or push the ivory needle through the cloth. Uncle’s wedding band is too heavy for her weak hand. Her marriage has been an unhappy affair. Her domineering husband has made her life a hell.

व्याख्या-चाची जेनिफर काफी वृद्ध एवं कमजोर दिखाई देती है। उसकी अंगलियाँ हाथीदाँत से बनी सुइ से कशीदाकारी करने में व्यस्त हैं । किन्तु वे काँप रही हैं, उनके धागों के बीच। जिस प्रकार उसकी उम्र ने चाचा की शारीरिक रूप से कमजोर बना दिया है, उसी प्रकार चाचा के भय ने उसे घबराहट से भर दिया है और मानसिक र से अस्थिर कर दिया है। उसके लिए सूई को कपड़े में से खींचना अथवा धकेलना मुश्किल हो गया है । चाचा का शादी का पट्टा उसके कमजोर हाथ पर भारी पड़ रहा है। उसकी शादी एक दुःखद प्रसंग रही है । उसको पति ने उसके जीवन को नर्क बना दिया है।

Context—The poetess is talking about the unhappy marriage of Aunt Jennifer and the difficult situations she had to pass through in life.
Explanation—The poetess says that Aunt will have to remain in the terror of his. domineering and cruel husband even after she is dead. The difficult situations and unhappy experiences she has undergone in her life will remain with her. She has been tyrannised by her arrogant cruel and domineering husband so much that she cannot hope to get any relief from the ordeals of her life. She has been a slave to those ordeals. However, the tigers she made in her panel will go on moving proudly and fearlessly. Her wish to be proud and fearless like tigers will remain unfulfilled.
