Question 1.
Read the lines in which the following phrases occur. Then discuss with your partner the meaning of each phrase in its context.
उन पंक्तियों को पढ़िए जिनमें निम्न वाक्यांश आए हैं। तब आप अपने साथी से इसके सन्दर्भ में प्रत्येक वाक्यांश की चर्चा कीजिए। 
(i) Velvet grass
(ii) Drinking straws 
(iii) Meadow houses

(v) Fuzzy head 
Answer: 
1. Velvet grass – It means that the grass is felt like velvet. 
2. Drinking straws – A butterfly has its mouthpart like a tube. It is used to suck nectar from flowers. 
3. Meadow houses – There are many burrows in the ground, nests beneath tall grasses and mounds that are made by creatures of meadow. 
4. Amazing mounds – These are made by ants in a systematic manner. Ants live in them and these are really amazing. 
5. Fuzzy head – Bright yellow dandelion flowers have soft fiber that look like someone’s head. 

1. मखमली घास-इसका तात्पर्य है कि घास को मखमल के जैसे महसूस किया जाता है। 
2. पीने की नली-तितली के मुँह का भाग एक ट्यूब के जैसा होता है। इसका उपयोग फूलों का मकरंद पीने के लिए किया जाता है। 
3. चरागाह के मकान-जमीन पर बहुत से बिल, लम्बी घास के नीचे घोंसले और मिट्टी के टीले जो चारागाह के जीवों द्वारा बनाये जाते हैं।
4. आश्चर्यजनक मिट्टी के टीले-यह चींटियों के द्वारा बहुत ही व्यवस्थित ढंग से बनाये जाते हैं। इनमें चींटियाँ रहती हैं और वे वाकई आश्चर्यजनक हैं। 
5. रोएँदार सिर-चमकीले पीले सिंहपर्णी फूलों के मुलामय रेशे जो किसी के सिर जैसे लगते हैं। 

Question 2. 
Which line in the poem suggests that you need a keen eye and a sharp ear to enjoy a meadow? Read aloud the stanza that contains this line.
